The Consumer Protection Act 2019 gives you only 2 years to file a complaint. Check your deadline instantly.
📌 Law: Section 69 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 states that a complaint must be filed within 2 years from the date on which the cause of action arises. Late filing requires an application for condonation of delay with sufficient reason.
📋 Important Notes on Limitation
For continuing causes of action (e.g. ongoing builder delay), the 2-year period runs from each instance of breach.
If you have a good reason for late filing, you can apply for condonation of delay under Section 69(2).
Keep all documents — if you sent complaints to the company, that does NOT toll the limitation period.
The 2-year period applies to all forums — DCDRC, SCDRC, and NCDRC.
